Apply Steering Control

A couple of times when happily cruising at 70ish I’ve had an alarm sound with the above warning on the driver display.

Before anyone asks were you holding the steering wheel, yes I was!

Any ideas what’s causing this?

If relevant , I’ve had new MSPS4 S fitted all round in the last month and minor wheel alignment adjustment to a couple of wheels.

Do you have any driver aids enabled? The car may have got itself into a tizz and not want you to rely on it .... ;)

I had the same thing on the motorway a few weeks back.
I pulled out to overtake as a car in the outside lane went past me and I was probably a bit "keen".
Car threw the same wobbler.
Don't think it was AEB as there was no braking but there are so many driver aids now it's hard to tell.
Probably emergency lane assist which activates every time you switch on like the bloody driver condition monitor which also said I should get a coffee 5 miles from home after a 300 mile trip.
It's not the standard lane keeping thing which you can switch off on the dash.

I had something similar and turned out to be ‘lane keep assist’. There are two almost vertical lines shown at the top of the information display on the dash which are green when it can see the lines and go red if you cross one without indicating, and the system vibrates the steering. It can be disabled with the button by your right knee or can be permanently switched off using the steering wheels controls against the ‘convenience’ features.

It’s the driver condition monitor. If it doesn’t detect any movement in the steering it checks you haven’t fallen asleep by alarming and displaying the message.

I’ve had it go off a few times during motorway driving with cruise on.

Hi, just a guess here....

Your car is number 65770 and has
- AUTONOMOUS EMERGENCY BRAKING
- TSR/ADAPTIVE SPEED LIMITER
- LANE KEEP ASSIST
- PARK ASSIST

So probably lane keep assist or adaptive speed limiter or driver condition monitor kicking in warning you.
EDIT (Or it found a parking space in the middle lane as you passed at 70mph - joking of course)

Thanks. I might PM you if I may to double check the spec.
Not sure it’s those kicking in - unless it’s the parking 😂. The lane keep assist only triggers if I don’t signal and hit a white line, on the occasions the steering Alert happens it’s a straight road, plenty of space ahead although ive probably been driving an hour or so.

My main worry is that there’s a problem with steering sensors or something that could be a problem down the line; or moreover dangerous.
