Got the 6th service done today. Also had the gearbox updated to stop the harsh engagements when cold. Will report back on that tomorrow when it’s cooled down!

Mot passed. It’s only done 1900 miles this year. Covid lockdown has meant the usual road trips were cancelled. Advisories on rear tyres close to limit, front brake pads and discs close to wear limits.

All for a smidge under £500 at an independent Jag specialist in Cheshire.

£500 with spark plugs? That sounds like a decent price.

No the plugs were not changed. They were done at the 5 year service by mistake, but I let them leave it rather than go thorough the hassle of taking it back to the workshop. It’s a very low mileage car so not significant in my opinion.

The bill included an MOT test and £100 to update gearbox software.

@Myer: Taken from the Jaguar Technical Bulletin........

"CONDITION SUMMARY:"

"Situation: A harsh gear engagement -- park-to-drive and/or neutral-to-drive -- may be evident when the
vehicle is cold (below 68ºF / 20ºC)."

"Cause: This may be caused by an engagement issue due to the current engagement strategy taking too long."

"Action: Should a customer express this concern, refer to the Service Instruction outlined below."

Arun Motors in Pulborough is excellent. It also has access to the Jaguar TOPIX system so can keep your online service history up to date.

£100 for 20 minutes work, more like 15 minutes, as the diagnostics pc is already connected. So, equivalent to £400 per hour. I would be having a discussion. Things like this and "optional" servicing of the rear differential oil, correct oil is £20 and only takes 20 minutes. Shocking!

This is why I am planning on doing the majority of maintenance on my 380s. I am not getting ripped off and the work is done using the best parts and oils.
