Hi all. Had to replace 2 tyres due to debris damage and punctures. The Pirellis P Zeros fitted from new still had 4-5mm of tread.
Took the decision to replace all 4 with the Michelin as recommended by others.
Have to say I'd been feeling unconfident with the levels of grip, especially in the wet, in this car. Had a few episodes where the back end went and even the front wheels felt like they were about to 'lose it'. I am NOT a boy racer! Had RWD cars with bigger engines but not as unconfident as I've felt in the F Type.
The Michelins have transformed it; i appreciate they're new tyres but even when new, the Pirellis didn't feel as planted. Definitely recommend the PS 4S.

Glad you noticed the step change difference - not a cheap day with all 4 but well worth it!

STOP it......I know I need to change but as my Pirelli’s still have 5mm left and I’m only doing 2-3k a year.....it might be a long time!!

My Pirellis have never scared me, unlike the Dunlop MAXX Sports on my previous XKR! So I'm looking forward to trying the Michelins when it's time to replace.

There seems to be a clear consensus and evidence that the Michelin's are trumping the Pirelli's. Why would Jaguar have specifed the Pirelli's as OEM and not say made a change to Michelin.
Pirelli I'm sure is also specified as OEM on Ferrari (Italian) and Lamborghini - all Ultra performance, so why are the P Zero's being trumped by the Michelins ?

P Zeros are fine on mine (mine is a daily driver) and less than 3mm left on the rears. Yes it will wheel spin and break traction if you drive it like a berk but no worn tyre can withstand 400bhp in the wet, greasy and leafy British winter. I find the P Zero hangs on well and when it does let go, it's gentle and very controllable. I also have no complaints from the cars in the wet at Fen End, also on P Zeros.

Commercial expediency. Some XKRs used to come on Dunlop MAXX Sport. Depends on the supply deals that can be struck, and maybe Michelin doesn't go in for them.
