Hi all,

Had the jag 4 1/2 years now and still love it but been thinking lately about replacing with an i8.
My opinion it competes with the F on looks especially the roadster.
The i8 seems to lose 40% of its value after 2 years so a 2 year old low mileage one is attractive especially now with the engine changes on the new f. ( no V6)

Anybody had any experience owning an i8 pros and cons?

I had to Google it, but that rear end...looks like it's been rear ended many times and put back together by a very, very drunk person!

No contender in the looks department, but if you like your gadgets and funky bits, das ist vunderbar!

I think at my age I’d struggle not to feel a pratt getting out of something with scissor doors :D

I struggle enough with normal doors, what with my smoking jacket, cravat and pipe

Drove an i8 on a track day - nothing excited me about the experience

I also drove an audi r8 v10 - that was stunning. Acceleration, sound, handling.

If I were to get shut of my ftype, I'd seriously consider the audi

This quote from Evo would definitely put me off - I ALWAYS open the windows in a tunnel! "Cabin only affair" - really?

"BMW’s TwinPower 1.5-litre three-cylinder delivers a soundtrack that does the i8’s looks justice. Obviously a large part of that comes from cleverly synthesised audio work, but in a car as ‘digital first’ as the i8, it’s more forgivable than in the likes of the M3 and M4. Just don’t open the windows in a tunnel and expect your ears to be blown off, as a lot of the noise the i8 makes is a cabin-only affair."

There's a documentary on the i8. I like the shape, but it's primarily fibreglass

I think the I8 is a great car, seriously considered one myself before the FType and its probably still a contender for my next car after the Ftype
Doors are a bit of theatre, its deceptively quick, good tech, looks are personal taste but I think it looks great, supported by BMW

I've had an M4 & 435d and both were great, no sissues. that gives me confidence in them

If it's fibreglass and weird door openings you crave, you could save yourself a few quid, and you'll make money on it... ;)
