Hi Rimbo, due to the Covid restrictions I had to leave it. But now restrictions are lifted, I’m still keen to get it done. I’m away on holiday now and back early July, and I certainly want to try again then.
Have you anymore news of anyone having it successfully done?
Best wishes, Bob
Retro fit cruise control
You might want to take your queries over to VAP in the US or even pose the question on the F-Type forums there. They do heaps more modding than us reserved types!Rimbo wrote: ↑Thu Dec 17, 2020 4:55 pm UPDATE 17/12/2020
Just had a chat with the garage and unfortunately its a no. .
They fitted the new switch block and it illuminates, so a win in some respects as at least it balances up the steering wheel and improves the look, but they tried everything (including going at it from the ECU side to see if there was a way of switching it on) but alas no luck.
So in short, it was worth the gamble and I'm happy with the results aesthetically and will just have to be careful on those average speed cameras!
Saying all that Bob (member on here) may have a garage that can do it, so will be interested to see how he gets on...... fingers crossed again!

Hooray, success at last. After trying for years to get cruise control retrofitted to my ‘14 base 340, I was recommended to LR-Retrofits. They said they had done a few without any problems, and were happy to do mine. Only problem, you have to take your car to Chelmsford, Essex. I took the plunge, a round trip of 250 miles, and it was done by Mo in less than 1 hour incl a test drive. At the same time for an extra charge he altered the heater controls so they are now independent. On the drive home of 125 miles it has worked perfectly.

Thanks for that info, Bob. I've been looking for someone who can change the heater from single to dual zone.

I was speaking to someone at Beaulieu who was just about to do this using a specialist in Portsmouth.
The specialist had said the switch packs on both sides of the wheel need to be changed, as changing only one would not work. He had obtained new switch packs from his local dealer on a sale or return basis.
Unfortunately I don't know who it was, probably someone in the Jaguar Breakfast Club forum or JEC Hampshire/Dorset.

Damn, you got my hopes up until you said they were in Essex. It's 270 mile one way for me! Will keep their name saved in case i'm ever south enough to warrant a visit. I'd like to add the cruise control and the switchable exhaust to my car but i'm not bothering with a 9 hour round trip
My local independent said that retrofitting can't be done to switchable exhaust or cruise control as the wiring looms installed to the spec of the car from factory. I assume they're not allowed to retrofit stuff so they stay in JLRs good books? If anyone knows of companies who can retrofit to f-types around the north/north-east, i'd be interested.

Hi mickjaguar. Yes, you met me at Beaulieu. I was phoned on the Monday by the garage in Portsmouth who told me they had an identical car in, and they had tried everything they knew to retrofit cruise control, but had failed, so cancelled my appointment. They spent a lot of time trying to help me, and never charged.
So it was now plan C! A round trip of 250 miles, but all done easily in half an hour + road test. I’m delighted, worth every penny.
Best wishes, Bob

That should be a no-brainer, even without the benefit of having cruise control on the way home.
