Since buying my car almost two years ago, I occasionally have a look to see the used for sale prices of the same model (V6 S Coupe).

I’m pleasantly surprised to see that average prices are now at or above what I paid. I wonder if this has anything to do with the fact that Jaguar has stopped producing the V6 in the UK and it’s becoming more desirable/collectable?

I think it’s just a case of the used car market, especially at the premium end, being strong at the moment. V8’s are also holding their value and Boxsters are getting more expensive by the week.

Same for the 400 Sport as well. I've been keeping an eye out of interest.

Oct 2019 a 400 sport AWD 17/67 plate with 15k miles was around £40-41 on used approved.

Dec 2020 a 400 sport AWD 17/67 plate with 25k miles is around £43-44 on used approved.

Even we buy are car will give me £37k!
I think all used car prices look higher but hopefully with no more V6 (due to emissions BTW) and 50% of sales were V6 that might continue to help.

Maybe sometime soon we can trade in the V6S for a V8 and get some pocket money ? :D

This is the first car I’ve owned which hasn’t decreased in value.

I’m not one to change my cars on a regular basis and as a runabout I still use a BMW that I bought approx 15 years ago!

I don’t think I’ll ever part with the F-Type but if I do, as well as the joy of ownership, it could turn out to be a very good long term investment?

Values only really matter if you intend to sell.
Buy at 2-3 years old when the 50% hit has been taken.
Keep it 10 years and if it goes up great. If it depreciates them it’s minimal/annum

Even if you don't intend to sell, it’s always good to see a vehicle you own that is holding or increasing in value.

I bought mine outright when it was just over 3 years old so the hit had been taken by the previous owner.

Definitely beats the ‘Personal Contract Purchase’ method.
