Hi Experts
I have a 2014 V6 S manual. I am thinking of using my unused holiday funds from 2020 to add some HP.
Has anybody got any idea about the resultant increase in insurance cost. I was thinking of the supercharger pulleys, air intake and chip to get to +400HP.

Many insurers will refuse you cover if you add any modifications so your best bet is to ring your insurer and ask them what they will allow. Almost all of them will charge you a set fee for adjustment of cover details, even if there's no increase in premium.

Back when I had my 200SX, I was with Liverpool Victoria (LV) and they flatly refused to cover a car with any performance modifications whatsoever (ie, even a free-flowing air filter would fall into that category). I moved to another company that simply requested a full list of modifications at the outset of the insurance being carried out and an update on any changes during the period of insurance, with no increase to policy just a small charge for updating the cover details.

My current provider doesn't cover performance mods, so I'll be shopping around when the renewal comes through. I was with LV but they wanted £1200 to cover my car, which I was not prepared to pay. But I'll be ringing the providers first, as some of the comparison sites are pulling up insurers that I know do not cover modifications, even when "performance mods" is ticked in the quote criteria.

For fairly obvious reasons, you do not want to be doing the mods and not declaring them.

As above call your insurer for a quote if you have specifics like the pulley in mind it read the policy.
Expect a significan hike for what you propose as statistically you are more likely to make a claim and the risk based pricing will drive it.

As an aside any mod be it bodywork, performance, wider tyres even pure cosmetic away from oem spec has to be declared as it could make the car more expensive to repair, make it more attractive to theft, or even encourage you to drive differently.

If you go wild then you’ll need a specialist insurer like Adrian Flux. Actually may it even be less expensive as they have specialist policies. I run a couple of serious comp. and custom Jeeps and they cost nothing to insure as the mention of V8 Chevy is just a tick box :)
Try to do it mainstream insurer though and will cost more to insure than buy the car...
