As an aside, I've got an I-Pace as a courtesy car. Fantastic electric motors, diabolical battery duration and charging. Technology not there yet.

It is generally not a job that a main Jaguar would deal with so they would probably farm it off to a third party company, who does corrosion protection and charge a lot for organising it. It is not a complicated job so it would be best to get a few quotes from various smaller garages. I decided to buy new ones and have them fitted by Jaguar at a cost of £117, but the sting in the tail is the parts cost nearly £500. I am retrieving some of this cost by selling my old ones which I have renovated.

Powder coating the under body braces is a waste of time as it’ll start flaking off after a while. Better to have etch primer, base/top coat and a modern wax-type anti-corrosion protection. A good vehicle body shop will do this (no need to use a main dealer).

My local Independent Jaguar Specialist now offers this facility.

That could be the extra layer of anti-corrosion protection?......This was done on the new under body braces fitted on my car.

Yes, when they replaced mine, lots of extra anti-corrosion was applied. They also took photos of the process.
Nearly 3 years on mine look as new.

@JurassicF

That’s good to hear......mine were done 15 months ago and all is ok so far.

I always do a thorough inspection of the underside of the car when it’s up on the ramp for the annual MOT.

It gives me tremendous peace of mind knowing that the rear underside subframe components are corrosion protected instead of just left to rust away! In fact, it even makes driving the car more enjoyable! 😊
