Model year?
Hi all, after reading a post on here about issues a member was having with his new purchase and weather he should walk away or keep hold of his car, I thought I would check the history of my car via the JLR history Web site. I noticed that my car is down as a 2016 model however it was first registered in October 2015, are cars built in the second half of 2015 classed as a 2016. Nothing wrong with my car just wondering how this works.

I got my F-Type in mid-March last year (literally a week before the lockdown, great timing .... ) and it was designated MY21. I was under the impression, from the info given prior to ordering, that whatever date I got it last year it would have been an MY21 car, even if I'd got it in February rather than March (but that's just the impression I got, don't take it as fact)

My MY18 has a build date of 25 March 2017.
The 10th digit of the VIN gives the MY:
F - 2015 Model Year
G - 2016 Model Year
H - 2017 Model Year
J - 2018 Model Year
K - 2019 Model Year
L - 2020 Model Year
M - 2021 Model Year

Agree, it can be confusing. In general the MY is 1 year head of year of production. The change over is generally around mid feb. So generally 400 sports MY18 and MY18.5 (just to add confusion) were produced in mid feb 17 through to mid feb 18. Most are reg in 17 so on a 17plate or 67 plate. My own car is on a 18 plate as a late Feb 18 car. Any think after that has been sat somewhere..

I collected my new MY20 (20 reg plate) on 16 Mar 2020. Wanted the V6 older style but couldn’t collect earlier as working overseas so it was built Dec 19 or Jan 20 and held by Jaguar before delivery to dealer in March.Cluck wrote: ↑Wed Mar 31, 2021 10:00 am I got my F-Type in mid-March last year (literally a week before the lockdown, great timing .... ) and it was designated MY21. If your car is MY20 it was made somewhere between Feb 19 and Feb 20. SimpleR could probably find the actual production date, he is very good at history finding.

When I bought mine, I got the dealer to print off the TOPIx Vehicle Summary for rme - it gives build date, warranty start date, etc. plus what they call "minor features" like seats, steering wheel, wheels and tyres. Useful info to have, though obviously not essential.
