Digging up the dead - Very old topics.

Over the last few days I have seen several threads being resurrected that are 4 or 5 years old.
These threads were not particularly important so why is this being done ?
If you have brand new info that could change people's lives then it's not a problem.
Digging up very old posts for posting's sake is a pain as it clutters up the active topics section where there are current threads being discussed that are important for members.
Please keep things relevant and current.
