As the title suggests, has anyone on here used Jagcare the Jaguar Indy in Portchester (near Portsmouth) ??
My V6S is nearly 5 years old and due a service in a few weeks time so I was thinking of finding a good 'Indy' to look after it for me instead of paying £140+ ph labour rates at a main dealer when only doing about 1500 miles a year. It would be interesting to hear any reports, good or bad, before deciding where to take it.
The other question I have is whether any of you do low miles like me.........do you still have the standard scheduled service done annually, or do you alternate a scheduled service with just an oil/filter change (either MD or Indy) ?? The car is 5 years old in Sep 2021 but only has 7500 miles on it.
Interested to hear any thoughts/opinions.
Thanks
Paul R.

Hello Paul,

Albeit another part of UK I have used a reputable independent but, this year, back to my local main dealer.

Personally didn’t think the independent was any cheaper, although very pleased with work completed. The independent didn’t carry out MOT’s on site. I didn’t want my P&J taken away somewhere else. I’ve also since heard they wouldn’t touch another F-Type with injector issues. This put me off too but not suggesting yours would.

Just had service, MOT & spark plugs, at main dealer, for approx £500.00. Which I thought was reasonable.

Suggest service annually, regardless of mileage. Mine is a long term keeper & I want it tip top regardless. More miles than you, now on 24k, but want nice clean oil running around the metal bits.

Cheers,

Darren

I used Jagcare about 13 years ago to try to diagnose an intermittent fault I had with the rear parking sensors on my XK8. They didn't succeed, but intermittent faults are tricky little blighters. I saw nothing that would put me off them - they seemed a professional outfit. I have an indy in Southampton now who gets all my work.

Thanks for the replies so far.......keep 'em coming !!........

Darren,
Totally agree with servicing annually, I was just thinking full scheduled service one year, then oil service (just new oil and oil filter) the next, then full scheduled service the next year etc...... so would have fresh oil every year ie fresh oil every 1000 miles :-) The previous owner to me had the 2nd year service done at an Indy in the midlands so it doesn't have a full main dealer service history, although the other 3 services were MD. There was a gap in the online service history so I got the original 2018 invoice from the Indy showing OEM parts were used and emailed a copy to the Jag CRC who updated the electronic service history so that it has a 'stamp' for 2018. Prior to that I didn't know it could be done.

SCM,
Is it the one in Bursledon you use ??......If it is I picked up my son from there a few years ago and he was pleased with the work/cost on his XK, but I thought the place looked very tired/dirty.........is it the same now ?......and even if it is, do they do a good job ?? If you use a different Indy, I would be interested to know which one. And does whichever one you use update the electronic service history for you ??

Thanks Paul.

The one I went to was at Paulsgrove, but that was 13 years ago so things may have moved on since then, for better or worse. ;)
No idea if they do the service history updates, I only went there once, for a diagnostic on rear sensors.
My current indy doesn't but I send details of the service and a PDF of the invoice to Jag Customer Services who update the OSH for me.

Edit: Just realised what you meant about Bursledon - no, not him, but I know he's very highly regarded.

I use Foxtec in Northam. Not a Jag specialist, but he's always understood any Jag-specific questions I've asked and, more importantly, had answers!

I have used Jag Car in the past but the experience was not great. The other thing to remember is I have it first hand that when the going gets tough south coast independents end up ringing Harwood Jaguar for advice and sometimes take you car there to!! Sometimes you get what you pay for and it might be cheaper but be careful where you take your car.
