Just wondering if you can remove parcel shelf and store on floor of trunk to gain some height for storage?

Yep, it comes out really easily. The rubber finisher comes off sometimes, just be aware of that if you see an odd bit lying around when you take the shelf out. it goes back on fine.

Yes but when out will it store upside down on the trunk floor?

Nope. When I had to take it off to get a big box in the boot/trunk I had to balance the shelf alongside the passenger seat, and that was a tight fit. In future, if I need the extra load space, I'll leave the shelf at home!

Thanks
That’s a shame and poor design 🙁

No poorer than designing a car that you can't fit a road wheel in the boot! ;)

The parcel shelf does fit in the boot area, just doesn't lay flat so yo loose a cople of inches in height.
When I was caught short for space I was able to unhook the parcel shelf at the hinge end and lay it onto of the luggage squashing the shelf to the boot lid!

Ah, what I was putting in my boot was a box that almost touched the glass (and did unless it was rammed right against the rear of the seats), so laying the shelf on top wasn't an option for me. If you have a lot to carry, leave the shelf at home!

Would take much I’m sure to adapt it with some sort of hinge mechanics?
Be handy to be able to get luggage on for a weekend and replace at destination

Many years ago I had a Volvo Estate that came with a roller blind to cover the boot storage area when one wanted to prevent prying eyes.
Shouldn't be too difficult to have one made and fit oneself.
