Hi guys,
Just purchased my first V6 S from a used car dealer, so it has come with 3 months' warranty.
I drove it home yesterday and everything seemed fine, EXCEPT... half-way home the dreaded motorised air vents packed in.
I know they were working when I left because I checked as I realise this is a known problem with these cars.
The question is... what is the fix for this? Is it a new motor, which will inevitably be very expensive including the high labour charge which I expect?
I contacted the dealer today and they acknowledged that it would be covered under the warranty.
They told me to take the car to my local preferred independent garage to get a quote, but as expected, they have no experience of F-Types so won't take it on.
They recommended I find either an independent Jaguar specialist or a main dealer for a quote.
The thing is, the warranty only covers up to £40 per hour labour and I would have to cover the rest. The total claim will only cover up to £500.
Therefore I'm guessing a main dealer is going to be extortionate and way above this amount.
Are there any recommended independent F Type specialists who could do this work and would be cheaper than a main dealer?
Many thanks.

Are you sure the air vents have "packed in". If the heating/ventilation was set in "AUTO", the centre vent rises and lowers automatically, as it only blows cold air through the centre vent when necessary ( when set in "AUTO"). To test, turn the "TEMP" control knob down a few degrees and the vent will rise, if working OK.

If it is truly stuck and not a setting in the infotainment system, there’s a string in the Forum already. I had the same problem recently and it was fixed by my local indie for £70!!alistair64 wrote: ↑Mon May 16, 2022 8:50 pm Hi guys,

I did send him in advance the attached pdf I found on here in an earlier post - sadly can’t remember or find the author of the pdf - but this clearly saved me lots of money!
Hope this helps

As others have said, check Vehicle Settings to see if they're in Auto - you can switch them to be always open, and that'll confirm whether they're working properly. I leave mine on Auto and enjoy seeing them pop up for the first time in the spring - then I know winter's really behind us!

Ahhh ok, will check the 'Auto' setting and test with the other setting.
Still learning about the car, but thanks for the info.
Also, thanks for the '.pdf' 299peter.
Funnily enough, after I posted I searched and found it too.
Should have used the search facility I guess, as I know this topic must have been covered many times before.

No problem. This Forum is a wealth of information and assistance - I’m not very mechanically minded but the threads and posts in here are massively useful. Also having a reliable and helpful and knowledgable indie is worth its weight in gold too!
Happy motoring!
