Discovered this odd but useful feature.
I use a 600ml drink bottle which gets in the way as its tall for the center drinks holder.
I noticed a plastic stud on the drivers side door sill and decided to pop the bottle in there.
Voila! Holds it perfectly.
Whoever at JLR thought this up was perceptive with excellent perspective !

Just sharing
I remember the germans were known for this type of forward thinking back in the day when Germany was run by engineers

This could probably do with a photo to show where you mean.

Isn't this just the small raised bar at the front of the door pocket???

It’s a perfectly designed lobe to work in conjunction with door handle and door card shapes to hold a bottle at 45 degrees at the front of the door pocket.
Often use it to hold a small bottle of water
As noted a neat bit of design, for no real cost

Here's the pics. Simple but effective. all it does really is prevent the bottle from sliding down - so it stays put ! And this bottle is too high for the centre console. Pretty cool. The Lexus does have it !

Ah the door BIN. You said the SILL which is the bit where Jaguar is written. That's why we were all confused.
Isn't that just the normal door bin then? I'll have a look at mine in the morning if there's an extra little stud or tab in it for holding a bottle up.

Can’t say I was aware of this feature until your post.

Both the driver and passenger door compartments have it.

Tried a 600ml bottle in it which fits like a glove (push-fit to secure). Also tried a 300ml bottle which fits perfectly when inserted upside down....only thing is if it started to leak from the cap! There again, a 300ml bottle can be placed in the centre console cup holder without too much interference with the operation of the automatic gear shifter.

Plenty of drinkable fluid needed at hand in the current UK sweltering weather!

I'd seen the little bulge before but had no idea it was for holding bottles - every day's a school day! My glasses case usually lives down there.
