Hi All,

New to the forum.

I have a 2019 F Type R Dynamic which has a normal slim steering wheel fitted, I purchased an OEM flat bottom wheel which I am told is from a 2021 car.
I took it to a Jag specialist today to have it all swapped over but as they show me it all laid out on the workbench the centre housing that locates the control buttons and the airbag/horn doest fit correctly.

The wheel looks to be too fat in the centre to allow the clips to go correctly into holes, I'm told it hasn't been re-trimmed which probably sounds and looks about right but I'm no expert. I have attached some photos below.

Any thoughts?

Thanks
Alan

If you cannot find a solution, check out Royal steering wheels, he can do whatever you want to your old steering wheel. Highly recommended.

Wasn't a jag specialist in Eastbourne by any chance? I got a phone call from them asking where I'd got mine from that they fitted for me back in December as they had a customer in whose new wheel wasn't quite right.

Yes it was.

I still don't understand why this wont fit, I thought all of the steering wheels were the same size especially on the inside.
I know I can get it re-trimmed and make it fit but its spending yet more money for something that should work as it is.

Thanks for supplying the name.

Not sure what is not fitting, the airbag or the buttons, but I’ve fitted a later SVR wheel onto an earlier car with no issues.
Are you sure it’s an F Type wheel? Is it used or from a genuine Jaguar parts seller? EBay and breakers often mix up parts..

Really keen to see what your steering wheel looks like as I might be getting mine re-trimmed by Royalsterring wheels but not sure what to go for

I have a royal steering wheel retrim too just like yours M42TYN.

I think they did a good job, however it annoys me how much thicker it is compared to the standard wheel, I don't feel it's a nice in my hands because of it, and the heated function is almost useless now, barely lukewarm when before it was really good. They didn't want to know when I told them I wasn't happy with the heated function.

All in all, very good quality and looks great, but it is quite a bit thicker than before.

Yeah I get that if you have the heated wheel function then that's what you expect to still have use of. Personally, I went with the upgrade to get a thinker wheel. To me just felt a bit more suited to my big ol hands 🙌 . Their quality is pretty damn good mind.
