Previous owners Vs price?

Hi all, I'm after a 2016+ V6S with under 40,000 miles on it. I want it ideally for sub 33k. There seems to be no change in cost based on previous owners. I found the perfect car but it has 4 previous owners and it's priced the same as ones that are similar with 2 previous owners. Does the cars history really matter?

Personally as long as the car has been maintained and has a full history with nothing sketchy on it then It wouldn't bother me as long as the spec was what I was after. My F-type had 88k miles on it when I bought it and it's been great with no issues at all.
I think there's a certain assumption with these cars that they are generally looked after and you can spot pretty easily when they haven't with gaps in their service intervals.

I have noticed with a fair few of them that they seem to have been serviced by mileage instead of serviced by years. Is that common? Seems odd to meZeusHavok wrote: ↑Sat Jun 10, 2023 4:40 pm Personally as long as the car has been maintained and has a full history with nothing sketchy on it then It wouldn't bother me as long as the spec was what I was after. Suppose if car is a second one in household, very little mileage per year, would you get service done every year?
My current ftype was serviced back in Dec and has done around 200 mile since. Will I get it serviced in another 200mile / Dec?
My last M3 for ref .....even dealer advised me to get services done every 2 years as I was wasting money with the sub 2 miles I did a year. Car was out of warranty, and did not effect resale any.

This is a good point. What's your opinion on 4 previous owners?AJ13 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 10, 2023 6:18 pm Suppose if car is a second one in household, very little mileage per year, would you get service done every year?

Can you tell from the service history (online) how long each owner kept the car. Quite often the first owner is the supplying dealer who registers it and runs the car as a demo for 6 months to make it VAT qualifying. In reality this would be 3 real owners, which over that period is reasonable anyway.

If you can get hold of the VIN number, the online service history is on jaguar.co.uk. Assuming the car was serviced by a Jaguar dealer or specialist independent.
If you are serious about the car, create a post "car history search for buying with the registration number". SimpleR will probably do his magic and return with lot of info for you.

I wouldn't be too hung up on how many owners.
I would just generally check car over carefullyand ensure it's clean, tidy, well maintained.....it's easy to spot a abused car.
Many ftypes are second cars and as such can change hands often.
Get the car in question posted up and others will give you some feedback.
Better 4 carefully owners, than one shitty one.
