I've just got my car back today, I can't say it wasn't a mission and I wouldn't do it again but the calipers did need tidying up
22nd May : my car was picked up and went to Farriers Automotive, who some will know are a Jaguar/Land Rover specialist, it's the fist time I've used them. They took the calipers off and I got a courier to send them to BCS Automotive https://www.bcs-automotive.co.uk/#/
23rd May : courier collects calipers
24th May : BCS Automotive receive calipers
10th June : BCS ship calipers back to Farriers
14th June : Farriers deliver car back to me
So three weekends without the car
I'm a little disappointed BCS had the calipers for 12 working days bearing in mind they claim 81% of jobs dispatched after 1 day of arrival and only 2% dispatched after 3 days since arrival. The repainted calipers seem ok.
anyway onto the pictures:
Calipers: before & after
Nice work - I approached JagTech based up here in the north to ask if they would do something similar, with the added benefit that they could give the whole brake assembly an overhaul/service with the calipers off the car but they said no, which is a shame as it's easy money for them in terms of labour-only work.
Does anyone know of somewhere north east based that does concourse-level work like this? I'm not looking for a 'my mate Dave' type who'll paint them on the car, I'm looking for a factory-level job.

tomosap - could you ask a local garage to remove/replace, as mono-uk did but send to BCS to refurb?
These were my old calipers. I used the BCS same day service. The quality of finish was better than factory. Baring in mind these were the base grey calipers. BCS even sanded the casting marks away…
I think BCS are so busy. Hence the delay.

I had considered that, but the two questions that come to mind are, which garage would be good enough to do a decent job, and also, what happens to the car whilst it has no active brakes, ie I would have to rely on the storing securely for a potentially unknown length of time.DaddyDarren wrote: ↑Sat Feb 03, 2024 3:07 pm tomosap - could you ask a local garage to remove/replace, as mono-uk did but send to BCS to refurb?
