I would not want to push my 2 litre any more than the 300PS the V6 is better for pushing up the power. There are quite a lot of higher mileage 2 litre ones around after six years so I would not describe them as fragile.Although Mercedes push their 2 litre engine in the A45 to over 400, so am sure the Ingenium engine could be pushed further.

With regard to the tax in Belgium the 2 litre is about €470 per year, a V6 €1200 and V8 €3600. The BIV one off payment to put the car on the road is €700 for the 2 litre €6600 for the V6 and €12100 for the V8, hence why a lot go for the 2 litre especially if it’s a weekend car.

When i made my comment re the power already out of a 2 litre I was aware of the AMG getting 400. Big difference when manufacturers do such things is they make a whole raft of upgrades to the engine and entire driveline so it's less stressed. Just bolting on a bigger turbo, ramping up the boost level, bit of a remap, etc. to me is a recipe for a lot of short term fun and a big bang down the road. I think JLR have already taken it to where it's sensible to get a decent hp figure out of the ingenium and keep a level of reliability.

As an aside one of my Jeeps runs a 5.7 litre Chevy small block kicking out around 240hp. It's a 1974 Camaro engine and pushing 50 years old, so says a lot for engine longevity when unstressed :)

Subtle enhancements to create the car I wanted from SVR nose cone, 400 series side skirts & customised 'design' rear bumper, to heated SVR steering wheel and more
