Outdoor Car Cover - recommendations please

Hi all,

Winter is on the horizon. Can anyone recommend a good Outdoor/External car cover that does not damage the paint surface?

Also, is it a good fit, does it stay put and the always important price would be of interest.

If this has been covered in another post, I have not found it, so a link to any posts covering this would be useful.

Bad experiences with poor products may help too.

I’ve just got one from specialisedcovers.com for my new F-type.

Not had it long so can’t speak to longevity but it is waterproof, fits very snug - made to measure - and doesn’t seem to cause abrasion of the paint. Comes with a bag and straps/clips but the cover is elasticated on the corners and doesn’t need any straps

Just been looking at these, can I ask which version you have gone for and how does it fit with the retractable wing mirrors, as I read in their comments to advise them of this before ordering as may need a change to pattern? Can you also post a photo.

I also had a custom outdoor version from Specialised Car Covers. Used with a soft fitted cover that went on first. It fitted perfectly, even came with pocket for the DAB antenna & wing mirrors. Four ‘belly straps’ are supplied but in practise only two required.

Not a shred of movement once fitted. Kept all elements at bay. Perfect protection

I went for the Stormshield + outdoor version (photo as per other thread). You specify the exact model and the cover is made to measure - so in my case allows for shape of SVR rear spoiler.
As others have said, straps are provided that go underneath car don’t seem to be necessary as cover fits very snuggly with elasticated corners. I have found that the cover doesn’t flap about even in very windy conditions.

To answer your question (I had the same concern when I read that cover is meant to be fitted with mirrors not folded) - the cover fits fine with mirrors either folder or not. The shape of the mirror cut out is big enough plus cover material flexible enough for this to not be an issue.
