Hi,
I have a 2014 FType S.
I want to upgrade the exhaust system.
Don't want to write too much here, just wanted to get your opinion on these two.
Are there any downsides to either one and what would you recommend?
I want to increase the volume of the exhaust but definitely keep the active exhaust.
VAP Valvetronic XPipe - https://www.velocityap.com/product/jagu ... e-exhaust/
200 Cell and Downpipe - https://www.velocityap.com/product/jagu ... -downpipe/
Thanks
Modifying Exhaust
this is the important bit if you replace the cats "*MAY RESULT IN EMISSIONS WARNING LIGHTS UNLESS ECU IS REPROGRAMMED*"
you'd more than likely need a tune
I know you didn't want to write much in your first post so wasn't clear what country you are in but if UK check here for VAP stuff https://www.davidapplebyengineering.com/

Have heard of many owners removing aftermarket exhausts. Either too loud or too raw. Those who’ve used Modstock seem happy but not heard one in the flesh.
If I thought the OEM V6 pitch could be bettered, I’d have done it.
VAP 200 Cell Cats but retaining OEM Active Switchable Exhaust is, for me, the best of every world

Thanks for pointing that out.
There is a VAP tune available to get rid of those warnings.
That would just be an additional cost right?
Or am I forgetting something?
I agree completely, VAP does offer a Valvetronic version of the back box with valves. But I get your point.DaddyDarren wrote: ↑Thu Nov 23, 2023 8:18 pm VAP 200 Cell Cats but retaining OEM Active Switchable Exhaust is, for me, the best of every world
After these recommendations, I am starting to lean towards the 200 cats/downpipes.
For sure.
Too loud is subjective tho and unless you hear one in person it's hard to decide how loud you want it based on recommendations alone.
But I appreciate your comment.
Thanks
I guess overall I'm just wondering what will produce a better solution for efficiency and volume.
Which of these two combinations would be louder, from your experience?
(1) Stock with VAP Valvetronic back box
or
(2) Stock with 200 cats/downpipes (with ECU tune)

I’ve been agonising over this for nearly two years, although I’m really only wanting more sound on tickover/low revs as the sound when you’re going for it is great (early V8)……….still unsure what to do!

The law isn’t that subjective though, if a car built post 2016 I think?
