Engine noise?

Hi all,

I find my ftype (2016 v6s) is bit ticky when it's cold. I'm aware that the engines can be a little rattly when they're cold but theres a tick every rpm that bothers me. I've attached a video of it. Anyone mind confirming if it's normal or not before I start chasing the very busy specialist?

It changes in line with engine revs, so I would be erring towards injector rattle/ticking. Has it only done it since the recent plummet in temperature (I'm on the south coast so it's always tropical here)? Does the noise go when up everything's up to temperature?

The colder weather will demand more fuel so the high pressure fuel pump could be working that bit harder

It's definitely louder when the engine is cold. It's been there (although quietly) since I got the car in June. When the engine is up to temp it is almost gone but still there to my ear. If you don't have that with yours I'll just take it to the specialist. I have a 2 year unlimited claim warranty on it so I'm not worried about the cost. It's just a bit of a farce getting it booked in as the specialist I use is very busy

My 2014MY V6S sounds just like a bag of nails on start up.
Been exactly the same for over 5 years and up to 60k now, with no sign of imminent failure

I've long since stopped worrying about the noise which used to shock me coming from a silent straight 6 3.0 BMW motor

Do you notice a ticking? I've noticed the fact it's noisy which doesn't bother me, that's a cold engine. It's just that loud single tick every rpm that sounds like a dodgy tappet/injector. I think my supercharger coupling isn't great either which doesn't help the start up noise.

Completely normal. Tapping and ticking when cold as long it disappears when warm. Lots of posts on here about it and why.

Some are worse than others. Mine has done it from new and now 6.5 years old and 45k miles. Never used a drop of oil and no issues.

I have seen it discussed before but never heard that tick. It does go completely when warm though. I'll ask about it when I have it serviced in February but I'll rest easy for now. It's very odd mind, almost embarrassing at times
