Hi guys, currently in the market for a v6 f type, have been test driving the p380 and p340. P340 did a lot of pops and crackles when going above 3000 rpm and letting off. The p380 didn’t at all. This must be software/ECU related right?

Have read that pulling fuse F15 might help in opening the valves also in lower RPMs <3k but does that also have an impact on pops and crackles? Would think these are not driven by valves open vs closed.

Below 2 videos in idle.

Pulling the fuse won't do much, I think its a GPF filter on the newer car.

Both have GPF - that's the weird thing.

Don't you also think the sound of the MY20 P380 is a bit underwhelming? US forum is full of people saying that pulling the fuse did the magic - but they did this on earlier models. Sound of the MY19 I posted above is already good enough in my opinion, but the MY20 sounds really muted. Anyone with a MY20 P380 that can share his experiences?

I would check the VIN number on the my19 car, anything from K58713 onwards will have an GPF, listening to that video clip it sounds like the 2nd car does not have one fitted,

There are quite a few topics recently around differences in noise between various cars, most seem to be non UK.

Where there may not be a definitive explanation there are several factors that should be understood and checked.

1) Whether the car is MY19 and later with a GPF (gasoline particular filter).

2) Whether the 340PS has an active exhaust or not.

3) Ensuring dynamic mode is in factory default and not in comfort mode.

4) Whether any of the three H239 software updates have been applied. V1 makes car forget dynamic mode at each ignition cycle, V2 keeps exhaust valves closed at lower RPM and V3 remains a mystery. (Mine is MY18 has v1 applied and has an outstanding campaign in TopiX for V2 and V3).

5) Whether the active exhaust is operating properly and not seized.

6) Possible differences in different markets outside of the UK
