It'll be worth giving the new battery a full charge - it's unlikely to arrive fully topped up.

For sure, I'll see the voltage reading on the reader when connected up, without starting car, plus I'll measure battery before installation.

Any pics of the tool you made?

Always handy to see an alternative method of opening the boot if all else fails.

If it’s to grab the emergency release handle from within the car yes - but if it’s to open the boot from outside the car then I suggest best not to post on an open forum.

As you should be able to see from the OP’s comment included in my previous post, the tool he made to access the green pull handle for the boot emergency exit was used from within the car hence the reason the parcel shelf was removed.

Do you know I was going to take a picture of the rudimentary tool I hastened up in the garage. But wasn't sure if anyone cared to see it. I will take a photo later today. My new battery is scheduled to arrive between 13:00-14:00 today.
It was either making a tool or borrowing a small child to clamber in and pop the handle! Could you imagine me asking someone that!

Of course you need access to the car by way of the key to unlock the car in order to get to the handle, it was a bit of an effort to remove the parcel shelf itself, having to disconnect 'the pull up' ropes on each side. I am a rather slim 11st 60 year old and I just about managed to pop the ropes. :)

Tool I made up to open the emergency boot release (from inside the car) from what I had to hand in garage.

The two rails joined together are 'DIN rails' usually found in electrical cabinets for holding relays psu's etc. I just fashioned the end with two threaded bar lengths and a stand off ally piece.

It wasn't rocket science :)

Thank you for that, it was a really must do. Hey! if anyone needs it at any time I will stow it in my garage, it's one of those 'things' having to hand is invaluable when needed. Mind you I was going to modify my wife's hand garden rake, but thought better of it!

Well worth keeping it just in case.

Good idea that....a modified garden rake. Glad you kept the wife happy though!
