Hi all,

Went away for work and came back tonight to find a puddle under the drivers side wheel. I parked the car on a slope with the front lower than the back. When I started it I was also met with the message that the wiper fluid is low. I assume that the windscreen washer anti-syphon valve in the back has failed, does anyone have a part number for it as I can't find it anywhere.

I'm going to try and flush the system through with some hot water maybe first?

I don't think you can but parts 4 and 7 separately.

Try T2R7586. Looks around £3.25 and looks like part 4 and 7 moulded together. Could just be clogged up.

That might be it then. I was hoping to change it without pulling the bumper but I obviously can't with that part. There's also that part in the bottom right side labelled as "valve" so it could also be that. I might flush the system first and see what happens.

Any idea what to flush the system with? I was thinking hot water or maybe hot water and vinegar or something?

It is that part in the bottom right T2R7587 (£9.88) which is labelled as the non-return valve 👍

I had something similar happen to the front reservoir on mine.
After success with anti-bacterial/sterilising tablets in another vehicle, I tried the same in the Jag. A few flush throughs later no further problems. Still periodically chuck a couple in when refilling.

What tablets did you use? Milton or something?

Only had my Ftype 4 weeks and still getting used to car. I noticed that my car keeps losing washer fluid. Seemed to be leaking from the front tank. This morning I took the wheel liner out to have a look. The tank seems to have a high level drain hole where the water is leaking from is this right?

Also I noticed it only leaks when the nose of the car is pointed down hill. My drive has a slight incline. The rear tank being higher than front tanks seem to empty. If I park car with nose higher it doesn’t happen.
Darren P wrote: Sun Nov 21, 2021 4:00 pm Now a quick update. The items I detail previously didn’t cure the leak when parked with the nose lower.
There is a non return valve on the exit of the rear tank that stops fluid running back from the front tank to the rear and it also needs the pump pressure to overcome the valve rear to front. My valve has jammed open and is not stopping flow either way.
Darren P wrote: Wed Jan 19, 2022 5:13 am Valve is definitely the fix. Had mine changed and it now not leaked in last 2 months 😀

So the rear bottle was clogged for me; cold weather not using the car the screen wash had gone mouldy.

I bought a syringe and catheter tube here and drained the rear bottle, washed out with hot (not boiling) water a few times.

Then I dropped 4 x Milton sterilising tablets into the bottle with hot water and used a syringe full of air to agitate the water repeatedly. Left overnight then drained, repeated over a few nights. Finally left an 8 tablet concentration in the water bottle for a week and hey presto, everything is dissolved, full pressure. Ran the bottles empty and washed the car to remove the washer fluid. No more issues.

Thanks for this! I've been out and filled the system with a 60c mix of 8 tablets and I'll leave it a couple of days and then rinse it through. My bottle was moldy, the lid is covered in black mould. I stuck a camera inside and its coated in a blue/black mix of crud. I need to get a syringe and some tubing from work to empty the tank out though, my car is set to intermittent spray and full to empty was around 15 minutes of continuous spraying.

All else fails I will just order the valve and the tube with the other valve in it and have them both replaced.

I'll report back with the results.

These, for no other reason than price and availability!

Thanks, I've picked up Milton and before I saw this chucked 8 in a pot of hot water, poured that in followed by hot water to the max mark and run it through the empty system. I have just looked and Milton tablets are twice the strength of those from Tesco so I've doubled the strength of your final efforts. If this doesn't fix it it's over for those valves 😂😬
