Hello, my name is Harry and new to this forum.
Recently i bought a Jaguar F-Type R AWD My2016 with 70k miles.
The car has a engine knock which is caused by a bad timing chain tensioner.
So i removed everything to get on the timing covers and chains.
While i was at work i checked the valve clearance of the valves.
Inlet valves were mostly in spec 0,20 +- 0,02mm.
All exhaust valves where completly way off at around 0,30 to 0,35mm, spec is i believe 0,25+- 0,02mm.
All exhaust tappets look like new, the coating is perfect with no flaking.
In every tappet is the dimension edge in, i measured it and there where all fine.
I can't believe that all exhaust valve stems are that worn down.
Maybe the spec 0,25mm is not right or the valve clearance was set wrong by factory.
Any suggestions would be helpfull.
Regards Harry.

Hi and welcome to the forum. Congratulations on your purchase.

As you’ve recently bought the car, couldn’t you have taken it back for the seller to fix the problem?

I wrote about the ‘F-Type Valves and Tappets’ a while ago which may be of some help to you? Here's the link viewtopic.php?t=6841

The valve clearance specifications that you've quoted are correct as shown in this attachment....
