Mine is now 7 years old and still going strong (hope I haven't jinxed it!). I do periodically put a CTEK on it to keep it topped up. For replacements, I'd go for a Varta from Tayna, using the discount code from Number 27's YouTube channel. https://www.tayna.co.uk/car-batteries/varta/a5/

It'd be cheaper to get a CTEK (or similar) battery maintainer and give your existing one a new lease of life! ;)

Thanks all,

I’ve ordered a CTec see what happens! Cheaper option see if it works.

If it helps, mine was on a CTEK for 11 years and I've only just replaced the battery and that was because i thought it was about time, not because it failed.

Most CTEKs have a "Recondition" setting to get the last dregs of life out an old battery - might be worth trying that, too!

As the car is 5 years old I’ll think I’ll start with a Recondition charge. How long does this charge take roughly?

Depends on the state of the battery but I'd guess about 24 hours. A normal charge on mine (CTEK MXS 5.0) takes 4 or 5 hours but I usually put it on overnight.
