I keep mine connected permanently, did the same for 10 years on the TVRs, never an issue!

Hi all charge is done took 8hrs in total to do the recon charge. I’m still getting the bloody error code on the dash ( SoS limit functionality) I’ve replaced the battery to the actual unit that didn’t fix it. I’ve now done a full recon charge still have the error code! I get the error code come up very intermittently. Any ideas! Could it be anything to do with the SIM card? I brought the car second hand so I’ve got no idea what the cards for? Or will it need the module unit replacing? It really doing my head in!

I'd drive the car a bit and see if the error disappears - it may take a while for things to sort themselves out, the TCU battery may need a bit of a charge. If that doesn't work, you could need a new TCU battery - I've recently replaced mine to fix what I thought was causing dodgy Remote app behaviour, but it seems that fault was at Jaguar's end. Easy to replace the TCU battery (even I managed to do it!) if you have to, although I'd have thought it should last more than 5 years (mine was over 7 and I think it was actually still okay).

Nothing to do with the SIM card.

Edit: Doh! Just seen you've replaced the TCU battery? MIne was rather low voltage when I got it so it took a few long drives (1 hourish) to get it fully recharged.

For replacements, I'd go for a Varta from Tayna, using the discount code from Number 27's YouTube channel. https://www.tayna.co.uk/car-batteries/varta/a5/

It'd be cheaper to get a CTEK (or similar) battery maintainer and give your existing one a new lease of life! ;)
I bought one and a code reader/ diagnostic tool to program the battery to the car. Cheaper than getting my Indy to supply and fit a battery! Now I have the reader for other fault finding purposes. Oh and I will be able to do the same tactic when replacing the wife’s XF battery which will be due soon (same battery incidentally).

Don’t want to put the mockers on it but since brought my CTEK and done a recon charge my SOS limited functionality has gone from the dash. Funny thing was I replaced the module battery installed it before I charge the battery an for the next 2 days I still had the message coming up SOS limited functionality. When I parked up and turned the car off I could hear like a small fan noise coming from where the module was no idea what this was but the sos on the dash has now gone fingers crossed.

Driving for a week no Sos fault on the dash after a CTEK full charge. Tonight driving home sos fault is back I’m. Only had the car 2 months so might go back to the garage it’s under warranty for 6 months.

I'm having this same problem... Installed new telematics battery in my 2019 and message went away for a month, but now back intermittently... I do see in the Jaguar TSB on this subject that you are supposed to use the Jaguar diagnostic equipment to reset the telematics to know it has a new battery... Going to ask my dealer to do this at the next oil change...
