5 weeks ago i test drove a velar with the p380 f type engine in it. it blew a water leak issue on the test drive so the dealer group 1 jlr came out and recovered me and the car back to the showroom in southend. this started an ongoing repair scenario which involved 3 water pumps ( including the original) two brake hoses, some wheel nuts all to be replaced as it would have a 1 year jlr warranty attached to the car so had to meet the standard as such.
i have just again picked up the car today and drove back with a message on the dash saying coolant low which to be fair jlr said that may well happen as the fluid levels need to settle down, come back in a few days and we will check and top up as required…… im not going to wait for that il top up myself … not rocket science is it !
so my question here is they said that the water pump sits in a plastic mount or shroud and it failed … twice it seems ! now i assume as its the same power unit as my v6s i mentioned the f type Y pipe issues they said it wsnt that! so what is this plastic shroud/ mount case thingy and why if it actually exists should it leak?
anyone know?
the first leak happened immediately on hardish acceleration the 2nd was dripping on my drive when stationary after the first water pump change.
to be fair i would have backed the car as a lemon but its the only first edition spec car for sale in the country apart from 2 others miles away and considerably more expensive.
