I know that the P300 4-cilinder was only introduced to be able to compete with Porsche, who had a 4 cilinder.
Even more, they squeezed the standard features like a lemon. This created havoc. For example in the Netherlands
they replaced a 120Gb SSD with a 64Gb, savings € 10 at most. So I do not think they really make a bundle on
the F-Type, at least not on the P300. But the last few years they did change pricing. In 2018 I paid for 19" wheels
and the larger brakes € 2800,- , now this is € 4900,- . Then I paid extra for DAB+, now standard...

I'm sure a lot of time they simply reduce things like the 64gb SSD so they can show it as a better spec option on the higher badged or engine models
I remember on the XF they used to fit the complete folding rear seats with mechanism, latches, etc. but deleted the boot pull cables on the base model. Clearly not really a cost saving but able to show 'folding seats' as a payable upgrade or a spec increase on higher models. All marketing nonsense

They didn't say so at all, that is was only 64Gb. They also did not offer 128Gb as an option or even mentioned it as 'standard' in the V6 or V8, no hint at all.

Same problem I have now with my F-Pace. This was a series 'premium' ; they put some extras in it as standard. Base is the R-Sport. That car has the ripping of CD's to the SSD and transferring music from the USB-stick to the SSD : not in my 'premium' which is supposed to be 'better specced' . The ripping is mentioned in the manual and the transfer from USB as well. Only on the last page of the chapter they say '..availability of features may vary on different markets..' : WHY ? Just keep the f#2king features the same world wide.. Logical that a heated front windscreen is optional in tropical countries , but then do not anywhere put it as 'standard' . Even the dealers don't know now what is -supposed - to be 'standard' . They obviously have too many staff in the main office to think out such idiotic varieties.

Haha.
My car (2nd hand) came with the triangle, first aid kit, spare wheel and Jack set... all of which I’m willing to sell if anyone wants? But the wind-deflector is the best part of £300! That’s got to be up there!

I removed my engine cover, or plastic vanity cover as I call it, when I first had the car. After the last visit to the dealer, they provided an unsolicited quotation for a new one - £200.

I took mine off in the summer months too, when engine temps from start up get up quicker, and enjoyed more supercharger whine from around 2100rpm.

But if you are thinking of replacing it then take a look at the alternative

I'm pretty sure any weight saving claimed is to your wallet

Why spend a cent on something you normally don't see, and which is actually hiding the 'goodies' underneath ?

I could understand if you removed it all together..

Because when you lift the bonnet you can go "oooh, that's shiny" :)

Amongst other shiny parts, I had a carbon fibre cooling panel on my old Nissan 200SX. It looked stunning but a fibreglass version, or even a much smaller item made of some bent metal would have worked 100% as well as the carbon fibre one. Sometimes you do these things beause they make you feel good, no matter how illogical it might be. I never did them for other people to look at, to show off at shows, I did it because I liked how it made the car look whenever I had the bonnet up to work on it.

I want that Jaguar engine cover but sod paying that much (let alone what Jaguar normally ask for it). At a couple of hundred quid I'd be ordering it in a shot.

That carbon fibre engine cover from 'adamesh.co.uk' (top image) does look nice and at £700 it’s a lot cheaper than Jaguar’s original (bot image) which is priced at almost £2,200 (part number T2R8019). The same Jaguar original cover can be bought for £1,074 from https://rimmerbros.com/Item--i-T2R8019

Still, a lot of money to pay for an engine cover though!

I haven’t seen the 'adamesh' website before (specialises in styling & performance for Jaguar cars) but it’s got good reviews.

It says this about the cover......."Suitable for all rear drive F Type models with a 3.0 V6 Supercharged and V8 5.0L Supercharged engine."

"Not applicable for AWD or i4 models. Not applicable for SVR."
