@GusA. Remind me please when I'm home , after june 11th... No bother at all.
But don't go then before september. In july and august its terribly bizzy, one of the reasons we go in low season.
There are roadworks everywhere, but I don't post pictures of those offcourse... In september this could be finished.

@davidd. We come home the 11th, pass east of Le Mans. I have a courthearing on the 12th, so cant stick around..
Have fun together with your son, good luck to him with his exams !

26th of may.
We headed from Schenna towards Pontresina. Again most passes were closed ; Stelvio, Albula and even Forcola !
So we diverted to Val Mustair and used the tunnel to get to Livigno [ 95ron € 1,06 the liter..]. Then back towards Bormio, Tirano and
over the Brenner pass to Pontresina.

The Bernina pass was open...

Just 300m east of the town edge, 30m from the footpath. They come down from the alps to graze, in may only !

View from the hotel. Good garage [ location '07' ], good food, good beds too !

27th mai.
For today both sceduled passes were closed : Flüela & Albula, so we could not make the circle we intended.

We only missed out on half a day, as we planned to make use of the summer offer from some regional hotels ; free use of the trains
and the transport to the top of Corvatsch and Diavolezza and some more.

This time we had the choice of only Diavolezza, a bit of a disappointment as my intended visit was to Corvatsch where I have been 40 years
before with my parents.

We took the train [ Rhaetische Bahn ] from Pontresina to Alp Grün;

There was lots of snow so we took some pictures and returned with the next train and got out at the stop at Diavolezza, to head for the summit.
From the gondola towards Bernina pass ;

28th of mai.
We headed for Lavorgo, just before the Gotthard tunnel on the Tecino [south] side.

The never ending story continued, but we diverted the route to Maloja, Spluegen , Nufenen and San Bernardino pass.

In a few weeks time I intend to complete this tour description with some video's on youtube. We did not stop everywhere
to make pictures since its just to time consuming. And it proofs to be impossible to edit the recordings from the same day
into a movie suitable for youtube. I need a day editing for eacht day of travel !

On one section it would have been impossible anyway, and I consider this as the most scary part of the drive as you have to
drive blind into tunnels about 4m wide. This part is named Cascine di Teggiate...

After that you get to the Spluegen pass. I attempted an alternative for the never completed 're run' project from jaguar and GoPro,
by fitting a camera holder between the headrests. Sadly my compact camera which is remote controlled by a phone app does not cut it.

Focussing on the dash or the road. The intense light outside the car requires aiming at navigation to avoid under exposure;

Lake at Spluegen pass, still frozen in part;

Wildlife is still in 'chill mode' ;

28th mai.

Again a disaster. From the 6 passes 4 were closed. I could either go up & down the same pass, or forget it.
So we missed out on : Gotthard, Furkastrasse, Grimselpass, Sustenstrasse. We skipped Oberalpstrasse..

The roads are free of snow, but avalanche risk is far to high.

We managed to do Lukmanier and visited some old friends who live in the area. Then we returned to San Bernardino since it looked
like today weather was a lot better.

Lukmanier [1920m] :

We came for the second time to San Bernardino, but it closed up again.

This is what the navigation looks like approaching San Bernardino..

View from Lavorgo across the railroads, river and Gotthard highway, from which you can hear surprisingly little at the hotel!

Hey,

We got home yesterday after more then 7500km's in 20 days.. ... need some time to sort things, but did make a short video..

Do not expect anything wild and amazing. This was the 2nd day and we're still heading towards the Alps.. ..first pass closed.

Around 12 more video's to come, some with stunning views high up in the Alps and Pyrinees and bleu skies..

This one is about 8.5 mins length.. It can become blocked by youtube since there's music on it from the audio..

Only some mild cornering and no shocking cliffs yet...

I made a mistake in the setting on youtube ; I blocked the 'linking through' , so this is the url

Hi Dan_Veluwe, your Satnav picture reminded me of mine around the Amalie coast last year! Looked like a great trip despite the closed passes.

The roads are narrow with fast locals, not sure it’s happy territory for a wide F Type! I was in an Alfa.
