Thinking of heading off for a long run within the next couple of months while the weather is good, don't really know where to end up as yet.

Wondered if any body had any opinions of companies that run tours like:

Not fussed at the pace as we can hang back and have a blast, so long as it's clean/comfortable hotels, good roads and scenery; that should tick all the right boxes.

I do like the sound of both the Rhine and Black Forest tour and the Champagne, chocolates and beer tour though, pity it is in 2 weeks!
Maybe next year.

I've been thinking about driving to the Italian lakes for a while. Worked out a route and places to stay, next task is to identify things to see/visit on the way that are not too far off route. Plan is quite a leisurely trip with around 4 hours between each destination. Oh! and not forgetting..........to persuade someone that 'we' want to drive to the lakes!

Calais- > Epernay -> Tonbach -> Lausanne or Davos ->Lake Maggiore -> Rapallo (could omit the Luasanne or Davos stop),

I found it expensive compared to self drive, although i would like the company so maybe one day! If you just want routes\stops i have the notes from our 2 trips last year and going again saturday :) happy to share those routes. Jess

Thanks for the replies.

We both enjoy going in a convoy of sports cars, it just makes it more purposeful for us. Doesn't need to be hoards of cars.

We like to do our own thing, i.e. We don't do large group/sheep 'activities' that quite a few organised tours offer.

For us, It's really about enjoying the roof down, scenery, roads and clement weather!

I guess a non guided tour would be fun. And yes, Marbella sounds nice for some autumnal bronzing!

This is interesting discussion guys.

We're looking to take a couple of weeks off next year and head off on a self-drive tour that will definitely include Italy, so will be gathering advice!

As a starting point when would people recommend to do this based on dry days and quieter roads?

Thanks.

I have done a few trips over the past 15 year down to Italy. The best was last year just after we got the BDE :)
I would be up for a F type run this year if we can get a few together.
I am think wanting to do the Scotland 500, but this may be a last minute thing.
