thiefs are targeting luxury and prestige motors I have all ready purchased a steering wheel lock for my f pace so that when I park at the side of a street or in a carpark on a ferry etc I know no one can steel it

From the news item I saw it's unlikely that the method used would be successful in any of your three senarios.

Yep as the key still has to be pretty near to the vehicle.
Usual scenario is the car parked on the drive with keys inside the house.
But it only applies to cars with keyless entry.
I see that "car" has an F-Pace which doesn't have keyless entry as standard so he doesn't need to worry.
