I have a varied range of savings and investments and I’m currently showing a paper loss on my stocks & shares portfolio. I’m not too concerned as I’m in this for the long run and markets will settle and eventually rise, bearing in mind that future growth rate predictions for the next 10 years or so, are much lower than previously.

When investing it’s a good idea to diversify i.e. not put all your eggs in one basket.

I’ve chosen good quality companies in various sectors which have growth potential and also pay high yielding dividends. This is far better than what a bank or building society can offer!

With regards to the markets wiping out many years of gains in your portfolio, the best thing is not to panic as you could become your own worst enemy i.e. sell now and crystallise your losses! You should also be aware of the following risk warnings when investing........

“The value of, or income from shares and investments can go down as well as up and you may not get back the original amount you invested. Past performance is not a guide to future performance."

All this could quite easily pale into insignificance compared to the loss and suffering caused by the Coronavirus pandemic.

My advice is to sit tight and ride the storm.

It did seem that way for a brief period. Dow Jones is down again........over 900 points!

I would normally say.........'When America sneezes, the world catches a cold' but it's not appropriate in the current situation.

Coronavirus outbreak getting worse by the day, hope your ok where you are.

Well, with the more positive virus news coming out of China, would have expected the markets to have stabilised at least😥

Surely the news is less positive (okay, "fewer" positives!)? ;)

👍
Down here in Andalucia, no new cases reported today.
Residents adhered to the lock down almost completely.
The Madrilenos didn't!

3 week UK stay at home starts now.

We were self isolating anyway so car all tucked up. Got an email saying dealer winding down and closing so I'll probably miss 3rd service and MOT and have to sort that later but that's not important.

Stay safe everyone.
