Today I had the rare opportunity to get up close to one of these and sit in it.
I was surprised at how small it actually is.
The interior was "snug" and I'm a small person !
I cant imagine how someone of normal size could have ever fit in this car. Perhaps they had to have the open top.
Indeed there was an episode of Magnum PI where tom selleck was driving an E type and was clearly too big for it.
The seats were great, switch gear silky smooth.
Wonderful wood instrument panel and carpet everywhere.
This is a 4.2l and extremely well looked after.
The wheels were a treat. First time I saw real spoke wheels on a car.
Later models moved away from the spokes.
I'm viewing it in a 2022 context.
It must have been a site to behold in the 60s

Imho no E Type was ever produced with a wood instrument panel.santoshlv426 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 01, 2022 8:50 pm ...

But you are quite right it feels so tight inside compared to modern cars, and with this long bonnet.
Here is a nice put together comparison video:

I'm sure it was a wood or wood like.
It's a 4.2L, so must be 1964.
I'll take some pictures. It's at the JLR dealership down the street

On a 4.2 the instrument panel should be black leatherette, 3.8s had textured aluminium. Originally, 3.8s had alloy centre console changing to black leatherette later and staying for the 4.2s.

This E Type had leatherette. Dash was not aluminium. Like I said, it's fine example and I'll get pictures. Didn't look like it's anything but original.

I thought I had seen about all F-Type vids out there but hadn't seen this one before. Really well done comparison of the designs! First time I see an F-Type R-S too.ralphr1780 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 02, 2022 10:46 amImho no E Type was ever produced with a wood instrument panel.santoshlv426 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 01, 2022 8:50 pm ...

Just watched this the other day too. Another good one from Jayemm. I'm obviously biased, don't buy his reasoning about the V6 and can't understand how someone doesn't adore the rear of the car but it seems like he finally really got what the F-Type is all aboutsantoshlv426 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 02, 2022 2:11 pm This E Type had leatherette.
