Rear tyre managed to find a bolt yesterday evening, you would not believe how difficult it is to get a repair done today or even worse, find someone with them in stock! Grrr frustrated isn't the word.

That's why I bought a spare set of wheels and tyres. So if something happens to either the wheel or the tyre, it buys a bit of time to get things sorted at the right cost and convenience.

Going off the subject blade_76, but you have owned some serious cars over the years. Just wondered what you thought about the Audi R8 - my dream car, but the complete lack of any sort of useful luggage space always made me have a rethink!

Very wise indeed. Think I might do the same, the lack of spare wheel and tyre companies not keeping these in stock is making me think the same.

How long have you got?

The R8 was my dream car and it turned into a bit of a nightmare. Had it two years and it probably spent over a month of that time, in the dealers. Some of it due to dealer incompetence (wheels refurbed three times, ending up with new wheels being fitted @£8k cost to the dealer. They also should've fitted new tyres and discs and pads all round as part of audi pre owned checks, as pointed out to them by my local dealer!), coolant leak, final straw was front suspension failing MOT due to leak (covered by Audi MOT insurance luckily), I'm convinced mag ride caused it.

Next owner went through a clutch and gearbox costing around £20k repairs (lucky for him he had audi warranty to cover it all) he sold it within a year.

But, despite all that, I loved it. I would have another one in a heartbeat but it would have to be DSG box. V8 sound was gorgeous, I was loaned a V10 plus for a week (first one in country, was a sorry from dealer), preferred the V8 sound.

If you buy one, audi warranty is a must have, extend it as long as you can and then sell it before it runs out

Rotten luck! Had a similar problem getting a flat early on with mine. Went to ATS but the hole was too close to the sidewall to repair (otherwise I think they'd have done it then, but I wasn't surprised really). New tyre ordered whilst I was there (at pretty much the same price as the website, which was reasonably competative), which I think either came in next day or the day after.

I keep meaning to buy another wheel (don't know whether to have the awful space saver or just go for a front wheel, as it would be a purely get it home measure).

Not quite two weeks into ownership, rather annoyed. However I've had some luck, it was able to be repaired thankfully, so £17 instead of then £400 I was bracing myself for.Blade_762017-03-31 16:46:06
