Hey guys,

Interested to hear your thoughts on the best outdoor car covers you've used / got?

Am currently looking at one of these: http://www.specialisedcovers.com/car-covers/stormshield-plus-car-cover.html

https://www.classicadditions.com/car-covers/outdoor-car-covers/ultimate-car-covers.html is the one I have and its great. Really nice quality, waterproof and lightweight. Plus its £100 cheaper.

I have an indoor cover from Specialisedcovers and all I can say is that quality and fit is 100% - could not be more satiesfied with it.

However I am rather reluctant to use a car cover outdoors. With some wind there have to be some movement between cover fabric and paint, and this will cause ware and worst case schratces if any dirt get trapped in between.Arne2016-01-02 16:22:26

I had a cover for my XK 5.0 for one season and it was a fleece lined breathable from Discount-car-covers eBay . Cost around £90. It covered the wheels and tied down with elastic front and rear. It withstood everything the Welsh weather threw at it with no damage to the paintwork with the fleece lining. Still usinging it in my garge as it fits my F type.

Thats partly a concern of mine too, Arne.
I want something to protect the car, not cause damage, ha.

I would also like the cover for the security aspect as well, to keep the car out of sight.

I've been reading a forum on Pistonheads here http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=1037068 and looks like there are some good reviews of these covers..

For anyone thats infestered, Cover Your Car suggested the Avan Tec, seeing as I live in Greenwich and wont really deal with any super harsh storms down here.

I'm thinking about adding the cover alarm on as this particular cover doesn't have a lockable latch it seems.
Much cheaper than the Specialised Covers Stormshield covers, but the Stormshield covers do have some nice options like the reflective piping.

I was told that Jaguar have stopped selling their cover because it was scratching some of the cars. This could be wrong but worth checking out before you put it on.

I'd the jaguar supplied cover both for indoors and out.
Any news on the rumour that this particular cover does scratch the car?

I negotiated a Jaguar All weather car cover when I picked up my V6S 3 months ago (RRP £300+vat).
It looks like a very capable all weather cover. I used it twice (although my car is always garaged). The cover is very easy to get on and off but you must be careful your tyres are grit free, else the inside of the cover will pick this up and spread it across the paintwork. Most advise to wash the tyres down or at least a clean sweep with a cloth. Any grit picked up will definitely cause scratching.
I think for me a lighter indoor cover would have been better so I will save the heavy cover for the hibernation months only.

Ps. The Original outdoor cover comes with it's own bag. Great when It's factory packed but even with your best folding skills it will fill your convertible boot once you've used it.
