Finally had it dechromed, I've been pondering this one for a while. Before and after:

Going down this route myself. Did you buy new ones or etch & paint old ones.

The side vents were a birthday pressie (I couldn't think of anything else I wanted), the rest of it has been wrapped. You can tell if you really look for it, as nothing was removed from the car e.g. tiny hint of chrome under the door mirrors if get under really close. No marks on the paintwork though. Decided to go this route to see if I liked it, after a mate a work had his done, as it's reversible and cheap.

Thinking of doing this to my Firesand. And getting the badges changed to black too.
I've seen IRR with black badging and it does look good.

Looking good.

Now get your wheels painted to complete the look. Not necessarily black... maybe a dark satin grey?

Mine didn't have the black pack and i like the chrome badges at the back and chrome grill surround at the front, but having black wheels didn't work with the chrome vents. It was the only minor thing i didnt like about the car.

I bought a set of used black vents (off ebay - Β£30!) and fitted them myself - looks way better and a good mix on the soft top imo.

Here's one from my Alpine trip last week 8-)

Do the Leaper and Jag badge as well to complete the look. Here's a taster...

Red and Chrome is very much an 'old boys' look...Red and Black is the kiddie.

I'm not biased in the slightest ;-)
