Interesting! The influence of owning a Spitfire in our younger days influences our love of the F Type?

Never had a Spitfire but did own a GT6 many years ago.

Yep - another ex spitfire owner here! I was given a 1969 Mk3 by my parents when I was 18. Well it was a bribe actually to get me to do some work at school - I needed to obtain 2 A levels. I managed to do it, but only just! Drove the car for a year with a grin from ear to ear before trading up to an MGB Roadster.....Happy days!

Talking of Spits, this was mine, recently sold S, 1978 1500. Restored it over 4 years when I left school.

Great little motor. 78K original miles, never been welded underneath. All concours underneath as can be seen in the engine bay. I brazed all new rear wings and outer sills. Removed every nut and bolt and painted. Made new copper brake lines.
All pretty much original. The hardest job was fitting a new windscreen, a job down with a windlass...rope and a large stick! Very dodgy!

A far cry form the driving experience in an FTR! I can keep the Jag in a straight line at 60mph ;-)
