Madjagger,
Let me know if you want more info on the base V6, I just took delivery of a MY17 coupe 10 days ago. Still being gentle with it but it seems plenty quick enough to keep me grinning....

Thanks everyone. Very helpful. My situation is that I have a new 435 2016 BMW bought March (my fourth beemer). Unfortunately I'm unhappy with seating (can't get comfy and just feel a little dissatisfied). Having now seen the new F Type, I'm thinking of trading-in. However, wondering what the seats may be like in F Type. I've never experienced any problems with any seats in any car in over 25 years of driving, so new car is an issue for me. I'm in the situation where I've spent a significant amount of money on the new beemer and just feel somewhat let-down and feel I need something to put a much bigger smile on my face. Guess I'm the kind of person who feels what's the point spending a large amount and feeling 50% happy when you could spend a little more and feel 100% happy (if that could be the case with the Jag!). Hence my reason for deciding to now check out the F Type.

I have the standard seats and I regard them as being pretty much ok but not what I would describe as fantastic. My view is that they could do with a tad more lumbar support.
My suggestion to you is make sure you try both the standard and sports seats before you make any final decision.

Yes, definitely worth me checking out the seats. Last thing I need is another one like I currently have. I definitely think manufacturers are going out for hard seats recently, especially on sporty models (unless, of course, you go for the extra-expensive options if available).
Do you have the leather/suede-cloth seats? or premium leather?

I was fortunate in that the dealer I went to had f-types next to each other with standard and performance seats, so it was easy to do a comparison. I chose the performance seats as I found them more supportive, which surprised me as I am a large guy.
However the most important option for me was the electric seat pack.
I like to have support under my thighs, and that seemed impossible to adjust without the extra elec seat pack option.
I was surprised this wasn't a standard feature, and have read a number of comments from people complaining that they thought it was.
Throw in that electric folding mirrors are included in the pack, and it was a no brainier for me st least.

I also tried both performance seats and the standard part leather ones and decided I actually preferred the standard, with suedecloth. It depends on what you want the car for. If for long journeys including motorway the standard seats are probably softer on the bum (and back) and with heated seats the suede cloth heats up instantly which I like. Probably as important is cruise control which is an option and then there's lots of room to change feet position. Clearly if you want it for spirited Sunday morning spins then the performance seat will probably be more rewarding. I left out the full electric too and after 1200 miles in 10 days since delivery I find them very comfortable- maybe I am just lucky.
When researching this purchase I also tried the BMW435 and new merc C coupe, and have had a BMW Z4 3.0i sport. They all seemed to lack that indefinable character although each in their own ways is very competent. Not sure which I get more pleasure out of, driving the Jag or just looking at it.

Yes, I've noticed that average mpg can vary quite a lot with my car.
On that particular trip it was mainly A-roads, not too hilly, not too many stops and starts. Just a nice steady drive with the occasional blat to get past some 'clutter' ahead that was spoiling my progress and view ahead.
I filled up as I set off and reset the trip computer and kept an eye on it during the trip. Once it had settled down after, say, 100 miles, It was holding pretty steady between 37 and 38mpg for the whole trip, although at one point I did see it almost nudge 39 mpg.
Up till that trip, i'd been seeing anything between 29 to 34 mpg, but I have to say in all honesty that I haven't been putting the car through it's paces since I took delivery of it a few weeks ago. I like to settle into a new vehicle at the start and get to know it a bit before I start playing too hard.
But still, it shows me that the car has the potential to be a worthy long distance tourer when needed.
That's good news to me because I was looking for a car that could give me both an exciting drive and a soothing drive....Just with a flick of a switch I can have either. Very happy so far!
If Ben's happy, then i'm happy.......Isn't that right Ben?
