I noticed this fixing near the turbo on my recently acquired F type 2.0 coupe.
Should I be concerned.
Another issue is that my 'sports' exhaust sounds no different whatever switch position is selected, is this a common issue.

Is anything missing?
Have you tried it in dynamic mode and turned the exhaust "off"? You should notice a difference below 2,500 rpm, but how much I don't know as I don't have the 2.0 engine.

I had a 2.0 convertible as a loan car for a couple of days and it certainly wasn't the hooligan a V8 is, but it did seem to make a fair bit of noise once you got the revs up. I wonder if the turbos are choking the excitement?

Don't be alarmed, that's the optional fixings for the extra two cylinders

I will have a look at mine later and get back to you. As regards the exhaust valve you can certainly hear the difference on mine when pressing the switch, although only when above 2000 RPM as it's vacuum operated, also get lots of pops and bangs on the overrun from higher RPM.

Have you tried
Sport mode & dynamic activated
engine up to temp
drive aggressive in 4th or 5th and decelerate from 4000 to 3000 rpm and it should start popping. If you tap the throttle constantly without increasing the revs you can make it pop constantly till about 2500 rpm. Aside from that the difference between normal and loud is not that much different in my opinion.
