Reading up on this it seems this is a common problem. So just been out to fit my new Smarttop and noticed the centre vent had only closed halfway. Tried some manual raising and lowering by turning the auto up on and off, each time it would go up, but only drop half way. Even on the up I heard a clicking.

So looks like I'm in need of a new motor. I've read that apparently dealers can fit a new motor very quickly, whilst you have a coffee. Anyone here had that experience? Any benefit to taking it to a Independent specialist instead? Recommendations? Nene Jag isn't a million miles from me (haven't used them yet)

I had mine fixed under warranty during an annual service. Parts had to be ordered to do the fix and that dictated the date of the service.
I seem to remember a figure of £175 if my car had been out of warranty. Slightly vague memory if that was just for parts or parts and labour......Reckon probably just parts.

I had exactly the same issue and the dealer fitted a brand new vent under warranty. It took less than 30 minutes from start to finish so quick and easy fix. Worth trying to see if Jaguar will help with the cost as this is a known issue.

Just had a quote from a local Jag dealer (Guy Salmon in Northampton) of £350 all in to fix. So that's not too bad. Waiting to see if Nene Jag can better that.

Sturgess Jaguar in Leicester wanted to charge me £150 just to diagnose it! I know what the problem is, I don't need to pay them £150 to tell me what I (and probably they) already know.
