Windscreen Wipers Service Position

Hi all,

Do anyone know how to set the wipers to the service position? I've tried to follow the user manual:

Before changing a wiper blade, the wiper arms must be set in the service position as follows:
  • Make sure the ignition is switched off.
  • Switch the ignition on, then off again.
  • Immediately pull the wash/wipe control toward the driver, as if to command a single wipe. Hold this position while switching the ignition on again. The wipers move to the service position.
  • When the new parts have been fitted, switch the ignition off. The wipers return to the park position.
But it did nothing apart from normal wiper operation.

Thanks

Following what it says in the manual doesn't work for me either.
Any ideas anyone.

I haven't had to change my F-Type blades yet but if they're anything like my XKR it should be perfectly possible to change them when in the parked position. Unless you want them in the service position for another reason?

Just wanted to give the blades a good clean because they are leaving streaks,
Don,t want to damage the bonnet paintwork

open the bonnet, before bending the wipers back.

Cant you just switch on ignition. Start the wipers, then when they are vertical on the screen switch off ignition. Wipers should stop at that position

Looks like it's open the bonnet as per dirk_BE.
Thanks for the replies

I just followed the instructions exactly on my 2014 3.0 coupe and the blades set themselves into the middle of the screen. Unfortunately I could not do much more with them than when they were in normal resting position. When I turned off the ignition they returned to resting as stated.

Just in the process of changing my wipers, they will not pull away from the screen more than couple of inches because of tabs on the arms that stop them, this wouldn't change if the wipers were stopped mid screen anyway, then can be removed in the parked position though so no problem really.
My problem was the wipers are the aero type (no metal frame) took one off and visited Halfrauds, the only similar ones were Bosch Retrofit Flat blade at £19 each, declined and got a pair from CarParts4 Less for £19.20 delivered. Part No is AR21U if anyone interested.

Update took off originals and drivers side is 22” so ordered pair of AR22U make up 2 pairs
( keep one as spare set )
Bosch fitted fine with wipers in parked position.
