Hi before i go to the dealer today.

Has anyone had the roof sticking n the passenger side (left)

Getting the roof not latched message and won't open!

i have changed the battery and checked the fuse. also complete reset of computer (battery off for +30 mins) and reset windows all to no avail! :(

I think it will be a connector limit switch or the motor maybe.

Any thought welcome please..........just don't want my pants pulled down by the dealer.

Thanks john

59 views and not a peep really guys?

Ok so credit to Ulrich on www.jaguarforums.com

"Hi John ,
enclosed picture from the workshop manual shows the location of all
motors of the roof. Studying this will perhaps lead to more detailed
information about "soft top won't unlatch". Literally this means
Motor #4 doesn't work in a correct manner. Most likely motor #1
and #7 which are synchronized via CAN bus communication are out of sync
due to a defective motor or by a faulty control module.
Dealer should be able to check all the motors via SDD.
By the way there is a detailed description on how to unlatch / open /
close the roof manually in your user's guide which might help to locate
the problem.

Regards
Ulrich"

FML it is looking like a 2K fix :(

Full interior strip required just to find out what motor to replace. (they cant access them because the roof is stuck closed!)

Bloody fantastic on a 4 year old 80k car!

If I ever find the idiot at Jaguar Land Rover that thought it would be a good idea to only have an emergency procedure for closing the roof and not opening it i'll feed him his design equipment sideways!

Hello John Handy

Think yourself lucky you have that .. on my new Z4 35is BMW there was no emergency procedure at all, had at 6 Hydraulic rams and no less then 15 odd proximity sensors ... and some had Hydraulic leaks into the cabin .... this was a metal folding roof.

On my E85 z4m roadsters the main Hydraulic pump would immerse itself in rain water ... but at least that had a system that could be fully disengaged ..

good luck with the repairs ..

Hello

Also I would say at least it looks like no hydraulics hence no leaks of high pressure fluid can ever escape into the interior, and at least there is a procedure for a emergency close method if needed ....

anyway keep us all updated of the final fix .. good luck

A little update,

The roof being stuck up is apparently causing issues accessing the top latch motor.

I just can't believe there is no way to get the roof down even after a full interior strip. work is now continuing to dismantle the top piece by piece!

All this just to get to the front latch motor and wiring harness connector. :(

Devastated at the moment.

I'm sure there is a crank handle in the passenger footwell that you can use to access the drive shaft on the main hood retract motor!

Just wind it back manually and check by unplugging the harnesses and checking the resistance of the motor windings.

I have the V8 TOpix available, but guess that won't help?
