Hi
My V6s is suffering from the squeaky active exhaust valve problem.
It's annoying and embarrassing as it is very evident at low speeds.
It's a 2014 car and the warranty won't cover a replacement back box and I really can't justify £1500+ for a replacement unit, so I am looking for other fixes.
I have tried Copper Slip on the valve but the squeaky part is clearly the butterfly valve inside the exhaust pipe, as it made no difference.
My next option is to replace the valves. These are for sale on ebay and claim to fit the F type.

Or I could fit this

My thinking is that if I keep the valve open with this device, I won't suffer any squeaking. I can choose to close the valve if starting the car early morning at home, so as not to annoy neighbours.
I would be really grateful for any observations or experience anyone might have about either of these options.
Thanks

I had the same problem and thankfully had a new system fitted
In terms of your fixes I’m not convinced either is a good solution
1) you risk the part not operating correctly with the existing control systems or it not fitting.
2) mine squeaked all the time, so manually fixing it open or closed will not be a fix.
I would go to a specialist centre and get them to supply and fit new valves. That way they source correct parts, weld it and take responsibility it works
I’m West Midlands and know of such places like MIJ Performance that have hand crafted amazing bits for me and have seen displays of valves, but just search ‘custom exhaust fabrication’ or similar

I spoke to the manufacturer about the remote switch. It can be set to open all the time but in “closed” mode it reverts to ECU default control settings so unfortunately startups will still be loud. It won’t hold the valve closed against the ECU program.Monster wrote: ↑Tue Aug 14, 2018 10:56 pm Hi

You might be able to get to the valves if you whip the back box off perhaps? I don't think the valve sits too far from the joint. A local exhaust shop might be able to pop a tack weld on the plate and probably stick some grease in the bushings too. should certainly be a lot less than the stealers £1500

Has exactly the same issue but only realised it after a year of ownership. Tried releasing it with spray/grease it to no avail. Had new exhaust fitted by dealer & it’s now a different car in D/S modeMonster wrote: ↑Tue Aug 14, 2018 10:56 pm Hi

High temp copper grease is the cheapest alternative.

Sorry to hear you have what is becoming a regular issue. I had the same issue 1 month after warranty ran out, thankfully the dealer replaced the back box under goodwill/warranty as the car had only done 12,000 miles and I had not even replaced the rear tyres. I pointed out a back exhaust system should last longer than the tyres which they really couldn't argue with.

What? You're clearly not trying hard enough - that car is wasted on you!Scorchio595 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 20, 2018 10:31 am ... the car had only done 12,000 miles and I had not even replaced the rear tyres.
