The 'Tech' (mechanic) spotted my rear diff was weeping when it was in for an MOT a couple of weeks ago.
It goes in today, apparently it is removed from the car and sent to Jag.. They need it for a week.
Will report back.

That is poor information from your dealer.
Dealers replace the seals on premises. Several of us have had these replaced. They normally only require the car for a day unless they overtighten the bearings and ruin the diff causing full replacement.

Piss poor as they had lost the booking. So now it's going in early March.
I have asked for clarification they said that all the ones they have done so far have been swapped out with a new unit from jaguar.
I don't really car as long as it gets sorted.
Not massively impressed with Marshalls Cambridge so far.

It is a known problem, and from what I have understood is normally caused by a "not too well" designed seal. New seal design has been done a few years back, and all that needs to be done is a seal replacement - which the dealer can do if they do it correct.
Mine suffered the same symptoms last year, and the seal was replaced with the new designed one. Did not drive it for very long after the replacement, before the car went into winter hibernation, but so far it is completely dry on the outside (no drops of oil in the garage).
Here are some pics taken by my mechanic during the job:

If it's a weep (no spots left on garage floor or wetness under the housing) then generally speaking, it's not worth pulling the diff apart.
if however it is a leak, then you take your chances with the dealers' competence.

Well if they are replacing the whole diff with a new one, excellent. But they should order the new one in before your booking. They only need a day to swap the whole unit. Why should you be without your car for a week, that's crazy!davidd wrote: ↑Mon Feb 11, 2019 9:54 am Piss poor as they had lost the booking. So now it's going in early March.

Not many of us have much confidence in the dealers' competence.
They totally messed up my diff doing the seals and had to replace the whole unit.
In one day I may add once the new unit was in stock.

I questioned the week, the booking bloke said they allow a few days to be on the safe side. I can cope with a few days,
Resurrecting a very old thread!
My 36k 2014 V6S was at the dealer yesterday and they identified that the rear diff is leaking.
Does anyone know if this is covered by the Jag Extended Warranty (I purchased it from a Main Dealer)? If not, any idea of costs?
Thanks!

Although mine was replaced under the 3 year warranty, I cannot imagine why it would not be covered under the extended warranty.
It is a design fault with the original seals, not a wear and tear issue. The replacement seals are of a new design according to my dealer.
A quick chat with your dealer should clarify this.
Good luck, let us know how you get on.
