Morning All,

I've had the warning light come on the dash today and just wondering what the consensus is regarding driving it? My nearest Jag Dealer is about 30 miles away and it's still well under warranty, however there is an independent Jag specialist about 5 miles from me, but I'll have to pay for the diagnostic check I assume.

First time with an F-Type, so appreciate your thoughts on whether to take it the dealer or the independent, depending on views of drivability.

Car is a 400 Sport (will update signature now)

Many thanks

Just call Jaguar Assistance and they will come out to you for free and sort it out or get it to the dealer for you if it can't be driven.

No point in driving a £60k+ car (or any car) with an engine warning light on when you have full manufacturer assistance a free phone call away.

Good luck. Let us know what light and what happens.

Good advice to call out Jag assist so they can see which fault code(s) have been logged and advise you if it's ok to drive until it can be repaired.
I had the same which turned out to be an O2 sensor which isn't uncommon and a quick fix at the dealer.

I've previosuly called them out when I had EML, mine turned out to be a misfire caused by faulty injectors and they arranged a loan car and recovered mine to dealer - very good service

Just to say thanks again for your advicd, guys. Was a 'sporadic' O2 warning which has been cleared and all seems to be ok. Great to get peace of mind at the roadside tho. Cheers

Glad you got it sorted. This was a common problem on my previous Aston Martin V8 Vantage , I found if I just tootled about they used to get carboned up with soot and put the warning light on. So a quick spirited drive near the top of the rev range cleaned them off and I bought a cheap obd reader to reset the light.

Can anyone tell me what Bulletin JTB 00392 v.7 says. I have been told my 2014 340bhp F Type 19000miles needs 6 x o2 sensors. Should they fail at this mileage and why all 6 at once? Just out of approved used warranty! Rang Customer Services asking about a recall on the o2 but was told did not affect my model. Confused of Maidenhead.

Hi,

Title - JTB00392v7 - Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) Illuminated
Global reference - JTB00392v7
Navigation path - Bulletins Technical Bulletins 303 - Engine System
Publication date - 20-Jun-2016 14:11:22

A customer may express a concern that the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) is illuminated on the Instrument Cluster (IC). Diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) relevant to the pre, post and mid catalyst heated oxygen sensors, (P0030, P0031, P0037, P0038, P0042, P0043, P0044, P0050, P0051, P0054, P0055, P0056, P0057, P0060, P0061, P0062, P0063, P00D1, P00D3, P0130, P0131, P0132, P0133, P0134, P0135, P0136, P0137, P0138, P0139, P013A, P013C, P013E, P0140, P0141, P0142, P0143, P0144, P0147, P014A, P014C, P0150, P0151, P0152, P0153, P0154, P0155, P0156, P0157, P0158, P0159, P0160, P0161, P0162, P0163, P0164, P0167, P2195, P2196, P2197, P2198, P2231, P2234, P2237, P2240, P2243, P2245, P2247, P2251, P2254, P2270, P2271, P2272, P2273, P2274, P2275, P2276, P2277, P2297, P2626, P2A00) may be stored in the Powertrain Control Module (PCM).

It is not a recall or recommended service action, just a technical bulletin for assisting a dealer in troubleshooting IF the IML is on.

If your IML is NOT on then this can be ignored. If your IML is ON and requires sensor replacement then open a case with JLR customer services, it will go down as a good will gesture but as it's a known possible issue should be covered regardless of warranty entitlement but expect a "discussion" about it first.
