Isn’t that really difficult for a dealer to do? It will invariably risk putting them in open forum conflict with their customer. I cast no comment whatsoever on who’s at fault, why the delay, etc. but I don’t think we should expect a dealer to go down this route and if I were the customer wouldn’t expect it either.
Can't get it fixed!

He's been using it for 2 years ... presumably without issue. There are always two sides to a situation like this, we shouldn't judge without being in full possession of the facts.Blueone wrote: ↑Wed Jun 12, 2019 3:27 pm Give the guy a like for like replacement and fix the car. To hand over £73,000 on a luxury item (I defy anyone to tell me they NEED an impractical 2 seater 400bhp sports car) and then have it taken away for that long after exchanging all that money is shocking. Great that Sturgess has shown up to post but the guy is still without an F-Type...

I agree with you SCM but the car is still under warranty. If this was a used car I’d just feel sorry for him as not much you can do. Until we have the full facts the dealer needs to give him a replacement. Having just spent a lot of money with Jaguar, it really concerns me as I bought new in order that I didn’t have any headaches for 3 years and any problems would be dealt with. Just surprised they haven’t sorted him out at least another F-Type to drive around in until they get to the bottom of it...scm wrote: ↑Wed Jun 12, 2019 4:07 pmHe's been using it for 2 years ... presumably without issue. Very surprised that Sturgess have commented on this thread - I don't know who Nichola is. Everything I have posted since 1st May has been written with total honesty and zero exaggeration. Today is day 44, my engine was supposed to be removed yesterday, but I have received no updates.
I have cancelled two bank holiday trips due to no F-Type and become increasingly concerned as time has passed. In an effort to expedite things I emailed Ralf Speth and Rawdon Glover (those emails have fallen on deaf ears). A case manager from Jaguar Experience was assigned some time ago and now that responsibility has been taken over by someone from the Executive office. I have asked for an F-Type loan car, but none are available.
When my car is eventually fixed I am paranoid about the fact that the engine has had to be removed and what might happen in the future as a result of that. So, I asked Sturgess to make a reasonable offer to buy it back and take into consideration the pain I have suffered. Their offer of £38K (NB even webuyanycar offered £41,600) was miserly in my opinion and means that it has depreciated at £1,400 per month from new to the day it went into the garage (other F-Type owners please note). To be totally fair I paid cash and did get a discount off the OTTR price.
I would like to point out that the Service Manager (Carl Briggs) at Sturgess has been totally honest and upfront and always called me when he said he would even though every time it has been to reveal bad news.

I had a quick look on their site & they have a 380bhp & 2 project 7's for sale. Why don't you ask for one of these. Better still as they are monitoring this forum, why don't they phone you & offer you one for the duration

I think, given the circumstances, I would be looking at my legal options. If you are a member of the RAC or AA, I understand you can get free legal advice. You may even have it under your household policy.
Good luck!

Really terrible for you.
I would be seeking legal advice with a consumer specialist lawyer, I doubt if the legal protection cover offered by either motoring organisations or through your car insurance would cover this.

This would make a great topic for Money Box on BBC Radio 4. Of late, they've been attacking a number of providers especially banks for what is perceived as unfair consumer practice. They should get Chamers and Sturgess on the line.
With regard to the replacement, it's unlikely that any manufacturer will replace a 2 year old car, even if under warranty, as the car has been used and driven for two years. They should however at least give you the value of the car less depreciation e.g fair market value.
In South Africa, we pay a premium for any new car and that's because they ALL (all brands) come with a maintaince plan for 5 years - over and above the warrenty. In effect, they take responsibility for the car for the first 5 years.
