Hi,
Are there any fixes to the above, mine has some very light scratches and wanted to know what the options are?
Window scratches any solutions?
You could try Duraglit, or some jewellers rouge / glass polish and a suitable drill pad.
Just be sure to take it slow and cool the glass down with a water spray.
Worked decently well on my somewhat star spangled 50 year old Mustang windscreen.
Your experience may differ!
Of course that only acts on the problem, new design seals would be the cure - or just take the window right down and see if you can get behind the seals with a suitable plastic tool and a vinegar soaked cloth maybe?
As you can tell, this is all a bit off the cuff - others may have more successfully proven ideas...

Hi Mark how old is your car? There was a service bulletin for early cars 2013 to 2016. However it was still a issue on my 2018 400 sport. The drivers window scratched on it very first up and down. It was replace under warranty. It a know fault caused by the design of waste window seal. Careful cleaning required to avoid. Fez

Hi Mark, yes you can try several products including Brasso I’ve just read, however if you’re not sure then there are companies that specialise in this, for example my Pano roof had a scratch on it when I took delivery so the dealer had a company visit them to polish it out under warranty and it worked, you cannot tell it ever had a scratch but their normal paint shop wouldn’t attempt it,
I’d google the products out there and have a careful go on a small area, least obvious on show and if you’re not happy with the result then take it to a specialist for a quote, there will be some in your area for sure,
Good luck and let us know how you get on,
Kind regards,
Steve

I would print out the SSM for the window scratches and seal replacement and pop it into your local JLR dealer and see if a pleasant approach to them may get, at least, the seals replaced.
As others have said if you just go down the window polish route, the seals will only repeat the damage.

There’s a brand new passenger glass on eBay for £81
Plus shipping. For that side I know what I’d do...

Sorry to bump an old thread. Trying to get my dealer to sort this, although the part they have listed on the invoice (for the waist seals) is t2r11258, but I noted the old service bulletin has it down as T2R24144 for the newer seals? Can anyone confirm which seals are the latest ones, that I should be getting fitted? Many thanks!

Well I took my 2016 F type for its first service with me to the garage that has traditionally looked after it. Main dealer...I asked about the scratches, they told politely to go away as they weren't interested, as I hadn't bought the car from them (even if they were the original dealers I think). Mind you the car now has a small oil leak, a coolant leak and a sheared power steering bolt, which it didn't seem to have before (most likely), as they didn't pick up any of those in the service.....they wanted £600+ to fix the bolt.......and I still have the scratches..
If your car is 7 years old you'd be better off finding a decent independent to look after it (I started using mine after 2 years!). You'll get better service, proper diagnostics and you won't need to sell a kidney to pay the labour rate.

Well, the independent I took it too yesterday - for the bolt charged a reasonable £150, which included fixing / drilling out all the bolts on the plastic undertray and sorting them out as well.
They couldn't find the coolant leak (it held pressure), so could be a hot car coolant leak issue, but think the oil leak could be the timing chain case, although I'm still rooting for the oil pump case, as that seems to be the usually tiny oil leak issue.
I'll see if an auto polisher can get rid of the scratches first, but obviously will have to source the altered gaskets.......and then sort out the disc brake shield cover, which seems to catch on full lock to the left.......but at least those are cheap from Europarts.....
At least now I won't be worried that I'll end up with no steering and an expensive repair when I'm driving it
