hi guys looking for advice please.

1. do you need to service a car every year if only covering 5/7ooo miles? as the guide states every 16000 miles or 12 months, is the 12 months a dealer benefit?
2. what sort of cost are you paying for a service, is the jaguar fixed price service schedule any good.

1) As per your own post. Every year or 16000 miles whichever occurs first.

2) I'm on a service plan so will leave to others to comment. Shop around. Prices vary.

I would go with the 12 months mine is 5yr old and done 16000miles but had oil changed every year.
But although my first 3 services were done by the previous owner at jaguar dealers I won't use dealers as I just think they rip you off. I found an excellent jaguar specialist near me both owners ex jaguar technicians , fantastic service and prices.
My last service jaguar quoted £500 for oil service and brake fluid change and I had to ring 3 times to get quote as they never came back to me.
My specialist charged £250 for the same work.
They also added it to my online history.

I had the 5th service done last year. I was told there's fixed price servicing for cars over 3 years old. Mine cost £325. I've only done 3000 miles in 10 months so was thinking I might just get an oil and filter change done this year instead of a service.

I'm with NAC63 - find a decent independent and you'll get a better service for a lower price. And if you miss the 12 month interval your warranty (if any) will be in jeopardy.

For sure you have to have the service each year regardless of miles. Oil deteriorates with age, not just mileage and you’ll seriously dent resale value if missed. You can even request limited service and reduce costs, so don’t ask for all the nonsense bundled in.

So as for main dealer or Indy. Well the eternal question. Do you want the dealer stamp or supposedly better service and lower price? Personal choice, but with older models getting low cost fixed service I’d stay main dealer and new for sure buyers prefer a main dealer stamp.
I think decisions are based on preference, past service experience and if you intend to sell or keep the car forever

I was quoted £335.23 for my 3 year service by my local dealer a couple of weeks ago (see pasted below), seems reasonable so I’m booking it in this week, I also prefer to keep the main dealer stamps on the service history for the extended warranty and to preserve the resale value.

Further to our conversation the next scheduled service on your F-Type will be as follows:

Service Interval Schedules 48,000Mls/78,000KM/36 Months

The cost for this service as of today will be £335.23 (this will be valid for 30days)

If we can assist you any further please do not hesitate to contact us.
Kind Regards

The oil has sat in the earth for millions of years. But now its in your engine it will degrade & knacker your motor due to its contact with the Aluminium components blah blah. Total bollocks. Or put nicely. Give me your money.

I'm with you on the oil, don't see how supposedly the best oil degrades after 12 months if you've only done 2,500 miles - will still be clean!

But unfortunately I still go through the process of having the service done.

Haven't some companies moved away from fixed service intervals to mileage based?
