Do either of the plugs - drain and refill - have compressible washers which need replacing/
No washers with the ones i have here. Part numbers are C2D3649 and C2D3648

Thank you.
One more question.
You drained 700 ml but the Diff takes 860, so what amount did you put in or did you overfill?

I put 860 in. There was no evidence of leaks on mine, I suppose a few ml would be a accounted for by oil sticking to the components and inside of the case, but 860 went in and it’s still 100% ok.

It has its 6 year service tomorrow, I was going to change the diff oil again, but will leave it a few months because it’s only done 1000 miles since I originally changed it.

Thank you.
I had mine changed under guarantee at 2.5 years as there was a "clonk" when turning sharp right, since then nothing, but will change every year ,just to be sure.
Thanks for your help.

Just wanted to thank the OP for this guide and others who have written details on a diff oil change.

Did mine today - took me about 2 hours, but that included finding tools and swearing at the fill plug on the diff - what a tight space. With some patience (which generally i lack) and being methodical it's all done and replaced with Motul.

Mine is 7.5 years old and has done 30,000 miles. No issues with the diff that i know of and i've owned it since new.

The oil looked terrible. Thick and gloopy.

I got about 770ml out of mine, but it was warmish as i'd been out for 30mins in the car beforehand. I refilled with 830ml of new as per the wet fill guidelines.

Not easy under there, but i used my levelling ramps for camping and it was fine tbh.

Worth doing every few years i reckon.

My local dealer recently replaced the differential oil in my V6S MY16 during 4 yr service at 29,000 miles. I actually had to go back and ask him to do this as, on examination of original bill, no diff oil was listed. Oil came out very black (haven't checked it for residue yet). Replacing the diff oil has cured a clunk on engaging Drive or Reverse after cold start up.
